MUSIC MINISTRY

Music g_edited.jpg

Greetings! My name is Mark Haas and I humbly serve as the Director of Music at Ave Maria Parish. If you have been blessed with a musical gift, I warmly invite you to consider sharing it within our growing and vibrant music program here in this beautiful parish.

Our musicians approach the sacred liturgy with humble hearts and meek dispositions, always mindful that our role is not to entertain, but to serve—to assist the prayer of the faithful and to offer fitting praise to Almighty God each weekend.

The Church reminds us that “the musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 112), and that sacred music transcends cultures, languages, and generations, uniting the faithful in one voice of prayer.

I hope you will consider joining us in this sacred work, rediscovering the beauty of our shared inheritance, and lending your voice or instrument to the Church’s eternal song—a song that has sanctified saints, strengthened souls, and continues to draw hearts closer to God.

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." Colossians 3:16

But when I remember the tears that I shed on hearing the songs of the Church in the early days, soon after I had recovered my faith, and when I realize that nowadays it is not the singing that moves me but the meaning of the words when they are sung in a clear voice to the most appropriate tune, I again acknowledge the great value of this practice.
