About Us

The Spanish Choir serves the sacred liturgy by uniting the Church’s universal musical tradition with the living faith of the Spanish-speaking community. As the Church teaches, “The choir must be so formed that it is capable of carrying out its proper liturgical function.” (Musicam Sacram, 19). In this spirit, the Spanish Choir exists to support the prayer of the faithful through music that is reverent, beautiful, and fully integrated into the Holy Mass.

The Spanish Choir is a 15-singer ensemble of mixed voices, open to all ages and experience levels. The choir provides music for the Sunday 5:00 p.m. Spanish Mass twice each month, carefully selecting repertoire that serves the liturgy rather than drawing attention to itself. Music includes Gregorian chant, sacred polyphony, and Spanish hymnody that is doctrinally sound and appropriate to the Roman Rite.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:15–8:15 p.m., focusing on vocal technique, ensemble unity, and an understanding of the liturgical texts being sung. Emphasis is placed on prayerful singing and attentive listening, helping singers grow both musically and spiritually.

Through faithful preparation and humble service, the Spanish Choir enriches the celebration of the Mass, giving voice to the Church’s song in Spanish and inviting the congregation to enter more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice through sacred music.
