Junior Legion of Mary

About Us

The Junior Legion of Mary meets every Saturday morning in the parish hall and is open to young men and women ages 7-18. The primary goal of the Legion of Mary is to help its members grow in holiness. The Junior Legion assists others through spiritual works of mercy. Juniors are asked to undertake one hour of apostolic work in service to Jesus through Mary during the course of the upcoming week. Juniors may participate in group assignments or individual assignments. Here are some examples of what Juniors are doing here in Ave Maria:

 

GROUP ASSIGNMENTS:
Book Stand: Juniors meet outside in the back of the Church at 1:00 p.m. on an assigned day to distribute Miraculous Medals, rosaries, and other literature about our faith. The assignment lasts one hour.

 

INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS:  Juniors may undertake any of the following individual assignments under parental supervision. Assignments include: 
 

-Making/passing out holy cards;
-Helping younger siblings learn prayers;
-Passing out Miraculous Medals or literature to family members;
-Telling family members about the Legion of Mary and/or praying the Tessera;
-Participating in the Purgatory Release Project, which involves praying and sacrificing for souls;
-Praying the Rosary each day for specific intentions of those in need;

-Altar serving for boys;

-Attending Holy Mass;

-Teaching Catechism to siblings;

-Spiritual bouquets/cards for others;

-Visiting Our Lord in the most Blessed Sacrament;

-Stations of the Cross;

-Praying the Rosary in the Church;

-Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet;

-Making Rosaries (beads and materials are provided);

-Holy hour with family members.
